Tier 1 Entry Clearance 2018-04-24T10:55:29+00:00

Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) Migrants

Tier 1 exceptional talent is an entry clearance route that can be used by individuals who are internationally recognised as world leaders or recognised as an emerging leader in the field of science, humanities, engineering, medicine, digital technology or the arts.

The points based system for entry clearance requires individuals to score points in three different areas:

  • Attributes: 75 points;
  • English language: 10 points;
  • Maintenance: 10 points.

The Tier 1 (exceptional talent) migrant would be a suitable route for an individual who can obtain an official endorsement from an  Home Office-specified designated competent body.  However, only a limited number of visas under this category are issued each year; 500 are released on 6 April and a further 500 on 1 October.

You can apply for the visa up to three months before your travel date, and the Home Office decision is usually given within 3 weeks of the application.

Entry clearance is granted for a period up to five years. After that you can apply for an extension or indefinite leave to remain, provided you meet the qualifying requirements.

In the event that the Home Office refuses your application there are procedures for seeking a review of the decision.

Home office fees for an application for a Tier 1 (exceptional talent) migrant visa are currently in the region of £600.
